Primitive Santa Clothespins Tutorial!!!

All this week I have been painting the small ornaments for the trees that I sell for the Holidays.

Today I was painting my primitive Santa clothspins.  I used the old fashion type clothespins for this project. I base coated them russet and painted a Santa face and beard. The fur on the brim of his hat I used a little Deco Art Snow Tex and sprinkled some glitter on top of that. Let it all dry and than spray with a matte sealer. I attached tiny little rusty bells on wire and wound it around the top of the clothespin and made a small loop in the back for hanging. This makes a great little prim ornament for the Holidays. Thanks for stopping by to look and Happy Painting!!!!!!

Come see my primitive Santa ornament tutorial!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone, today I have been working on Santa ornaments for my trees. This is a really cute primitive ornament to make. I start off with small pine sticks bought from Home Depot. They measure 5/8 x 5/8 and we cut them to be 4 1/2 inches long. I paint them a deep burgundy red. After all the base coating is done I paint a Santa face with a long beard. I seal them with Matte sealer and sprinkle a little glamour dust on the brim of Santa's hat. You always have to have a little sparkle. Drill a hole through the sides of the Santa and attach wire for hanging.  You can see from the picture how cute they look hanging from the tree. I also do this with old fashion cloths pins. Thanks for stopping by to look and I hope you try this project!!!!

Stop by my blog to see what I painted today!!!!

Today I finished painting a vintage scale that I was lucky enough to find in a antique store. It's from the American Family Scale Company. It was patented on July 17th 1913. It is in very good condition. The face of the scale had no imperfections at all. I base coated it a country red and antique white. On both sides I hand painted saltbox scenes. At the top I painted a black crow with some vines. I just love finding old things and giving them life again. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!!

First Tree Of The Season!! Stop By My Blog To Have A Look!!!

Well it has been a long time since I posted anything on my blog. I have been busy with family things and doing much needed chores around the house. But now it's down to business. I have to start painting my containers and pieces for my holiday trees. I had my first special order of the season for a gingerbread tree. That of course is one of my favorite trees to do. Here are some pictures. Well I have to get into the holiday spirit in this 95 degree weather to paint. I guess I'll put my Christmas music on. I hope you all have a great day!!!
